Before the crew arrives / 5 min

What to separate before a property cleanout

The simplest cleanouts have a clear boundary between what leaves and what stays. A few minutes of marking can prevent a long conversation on site.

01

Make the keep pile unmistakable

Move important items to a separate room or mark them clearly. If something cannot move, point it out in the first walk-through.

  • Documents and photos
  • Keys and remotes
  • Tools that stay
  • Rental or building property
02

Keep private material out of the removal pile

Check drawers, boxes, cabinets, and furniture for personal records, medication, money, or identifying information before the job begins.

03

Leave the route usable

When possible, keep doors, gates, halls, and parking access clear. If access cannot be cleared, describe it in the request so it is part of the scope discussion.
